STATE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Only accepts applications from Individuals.
- Do not use a company’s or any business address (including PO Box) as the
individual producer’s residence or mailing address. Virginia insurance
statutes require the individual producer’s residence (street) address to
be the mailing address of record.
- Applicants who provide an affirmative answer to any background questions
must submit their paper application and all applicable documents directly to
the Agents Licensing Section of the Bureau of Insurance.
- An appointment must be made within six months (183 calendar days) of
receiving a license.
- Cannot apply for “Title” license electronically. Contact Virginia
Bureau of Insurance.
State fees will not be collected by NIPR (on behalf of VA) when a
transaction is declined according to VA business rules. Transaction fees and
processing fees will still apply. Violation of the following rules will
result in a decline response.
- Applicants must be 18 years old or older.
- Applicants with a Non-Resident VA Agent license in
"Inactive" status may not apply electronically if the Agent
license is inactive for one of the following reasons:
- Denied
- Suspended by Order
- Suspended Voluntarily
- Applicants who provide an affirmative answer to any background
questions cannot apply electronically.
- Applicants with RIRS or SAD actions cannot apply electronically.
- Applicants applying for Variable Contracts must also hold or apply for
VA Non-Resident Life and Annuities LOA.
- Property and Casualty license includes Personal lines. Do not apply
for both a Property and Casualty license and a Personal Lines license.
Please note: There may be a discrepancy of a day or two
between the effective date communicated in the email response generated from
the online application and the actual effective date assigned by the Bureau
of Insurance. The actual effective date will be submitted to the NIPR
Producer Database and printed on your license.
